This 29 day trip includes 22 days of trekking from the jungles and hills of the lower slopes of the Himalayas, through the lively Sherpa villages of the Khumbu. On our way to Mount Everest Base Camp we will hike to Kala Patthar (18,400 ft.) for the most spectacular views of Mt. Everest.

After one day of sightseeing in Kathmandu, we will drive to Jiri, the starting point of our trek. This classical approach route is much less crowded and follows the footsteps of all expeditions attempting to climb Everest through the South Col. Our route will take us through Namche, a traditional trading center and the most prosperous village in the Khumbu, and through magnificent rhododendron forests to Thyangboche, the main monastery of the Khumbu area.

On our way to Everest Base Camp, we will camp at Gorak Shep where we are likely to find flocks of pheasants and Tibetan snow cocks. From this camping site we will have the choice of hiking to the high point of Kala Patthar (18,400 ft.) for incredible panoramic views of Mount Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Pumori, Ama Dablam, and many other beautiful peaks.

On our way back we will follow the Dudh Khosi River south, exit Sagarmatha National Park and proceed to Lukla for one of the most spectacular mountain flights in the world - Lukla to Kathmandu.

Price: $2890 per person in Nepal, based on 4 to 6 persons per group.
