This 21 day adventure, 14 day trek, offers ethnic diversity and spectacular scenery. We will travel along ancient trade routes amidst magnificent mountains. As we cross the Thorong La (17,650 ft.), the high point of the trek, we will enjoy superb views of Manaslu and the Annapurnas. Our descent to Jomosom will take us to the world's deepest river gorge with Dhaulagiri and Annapurna rising over 25,000 feet on either side. |

After one day sightseeing in Kathmandu we will travel by private bus to Beshisahar, the starting point of our itinerary. We will gradually gain elevation following the subtropical Marsyandi River, full of misty waterfalls, blooming wild roses and friendly villages of Gurungs, Magars and Chetris. On our way to Dharapani we will cross a new suspension bridge over the Marsyandi River and then head west to Chame, the district center for the Manang region. As we approach the village of Manang, the landscape changes into a dry arid land and our path continues in the rain shadow of the Himalayas. This region is inhabited by traders of Tibetan origin and we will meet donkey caravans transporting salt and other goods. We will visit ancient monasteries and medieval villages nestled in eroded cliffs. We will spend one day of rest and acclimatization at Manang before our exhilirating crossing of the Thorong La (17,650 ft.), the high pass that will lead us to Muktinath, the Kali Gandaki river valley and Jomosom, for our flight back to Pokhara and Kathmandu. |
