Trekking in Nepal |

Trekking in Nepal is always an adventure. Around every bend in the trail is a new vista, a new world, a new experience. And nearly everywhere you go, you're on foot. For example, the Khumbu is an amazing area because everything that is built there is built by hand. There is almost no machinery because machines have to be carried in, piece by piece, and reassembled. Some areas do have hydro power but forget cars, trucks, buses, etc. There is an airport at Lukla and there are a few other places where helicopters can land. There are also cyber cafes in Lukla and Namche so you can still send and receive email. And as you journey in the Khumbu, you will come across many people whose faces and teahouses and lodges appear in the pages of this website. Every time someone returns from a trek with Kohinoor Adventure, more photos of new friends appear here. |

Teahouses and lodges are regular stops on most of our treks. We don't always eat or stay in them but we do stop in and visit. You never know who you might meet along the way. They are also good places to get the local news. |

Porters carry most of your gear leaving you with only what you want or need for the day. The kitchen crew deals with all the meals and tea breaks. We even have a shower tent available for those who wish to use it. Most days you will wake up to tea and breakfast, do your morning ablutions, pack your gear and hike a couple of hours to morning tea break. After tea is another hour or two to lunch. After lunch is another couple of hours hiking to afternoon tea, then another hour to dinner and camp for the night. The journey is done slowly and easily to allow you to get used to the altitude. At times we go for a hike up a good hill for the views, the exercise and for the added acclimation before we head for the final goal. All along the way our Sirdar and his team are observing your health and your physical condition to ensure that you enjoy yourself and you return in as good a condition as when you arrived. |

Trails are well marked and, usually, well travelled. Now and then we are asked to travel a route that is out of the mainstream and we do our best to accomodate. That's where getting the local news really helps. |

The kitchen crew is very good at what they do. Our cooks have years of experience catering to Western taste buds and dealing with Western stomachs. They are even able to deliver a pretty good pizza at 17,000 feet. |
